I know this is not everyone and there’re some unicorns out there but after working with hiring managers for decades i can’t help but see cheap programmers when I see Devops. It’s ether Ops people that think they are programmers or programmers that are not good enough to get hired as Software Engineers outright at higher pay. It’s like when one person is both they can do both but not great at ether one. Devops works best when it’s a team of both dev and Ops working together. IMO

If you are on console I can see why there is no excitement for video games. But on Steam especially with a steam deck the indies are fantastic. Animal Well was my personal game of the year. The other aspect is on PC they keep throwing games at me for free between GoG and Epic I have over 800 games without paying a dime not all of them are winners but you can’t beat the price.

Alaska is a big place with very different climates places like Katchakan and Anchorage are about as different than Norway and Spain. in Anchorage having engine heaters you had to plugin in your car was one of the weird ones. People are inclusive and exclusive at the same time. if you are part of the community. Been using Linux for 25 years so i don’t know if it’s comparable to today but ironically it was setting up game servers for fun. Then i applied for a game sever hosting provider. i think they have mostly died out now. Then just kinda jumped over to web hosting this was before cloud was a thing. Then kinda moved into internal IT running corporate IT. The nice thing being 100% Linux admin i don’t have to mess with AD and FSMO. Even though I know how to i keep quiet about that.

weirdly I’m still a Linux administrator but with way more fun services to maintain.

very true the only reason I’m okay with it is the files are standard markdown and there is no database that locks you in. the only thing keeping me with them is features and workflow. if any open source project gets feature parity I would switch tomorrow
