Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What tourist destinations do you think are NOT overrated?
4·13 days agoMany bike lanes are plowed in the winter. The weather is almost always “permitting” depending on how brave you are.

World News@lemmy.world•Italy’s famous Lovers’ Arch collapses into the sea on Valentine’s DayEnglish
4·15 days agoIt’s not really weird. It’s something that’s going to happen at some point regardless. Like the article states, erosion made the arches, and it will eventually unmake them.
I’ve never seen a giraffe indoors
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree supports.
What if your GPU or RAM dies?
I mean as long as your PC is still viable, sure. But at some point even a partial downgrade can be an upgrade in some ways.
As old computers age out of gaming-worthiness and/or just die, new computers are built to replace them, and the high cost of memory may force some to get less RAM.

This was the smallest Bluetooth chip back in 2017. I can’t even imagine what else they can fit into the form factor of a USB-C plug nowadays.

34·26 days agoC-to-C is even worse because Usb-C requires a chip in the connector, and you never know what that chip is capable of. Usb-A would only have a chip in it if it’s been tampered with.
Have you ever cleaned out a lint trap? All that lint used to be part of the clothes.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Was The Brave Little Toaster all that dark?
26·1 month agoThe vacuum cleaner sinking into the mud and dragging the others with him was dark AF. And the blanket, as he’s about to go under, sheepishly says “I’m not scared.”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you argue against "I have nothing to hide" in relation to privacy and security?
2·1 month agoIf you have nothing to hide, you wouldn’t mind if I borrow your credit card, right?
The audacity of some people.
Yeah I wouldn’t even call that rope. Cord, perhaps, but it seems too thin to be called rope.
Modern climbing ropes are still less than 10lbs at four times the length. Not sure how the density compares, but it’s not 4 times denser either.
Everybody thinks advertising doesn’t work on them.
Most advertising isn’t trying to convince you to buy product X that’s being advertised. It’s trying to get you to think about the brand itself. They’re saying “Buy this fridge from Brand A” but they’re not actually trying to sell you a fridge, what they really want is for you to think of Brand A the next time you’re looking for a new appliance or some other product they sell.
That’s so nice of him! Tell him I appreciate it.

Youtube definitely hinders the experience if you have adblockers. I’ve had a page load instantly and the video start to buffer immediately, only to refresh on its own a fraction of a second later, load the page slowly, and then wait about 10 seconds before any buffering would happen. If adblockers are disabled, the page loads instantly and the video buffers immediately.
I also regularly get the little popup in the corner saying “Experiencing interruptions?” but shockingly only if the adblocker is enabled. Weird.
