But which consumes more energy? Like really. I’m betting AI does, but some tasks might be close.
My namesake is a human librarian that was turned into an orangutan. All he says is “Ook” and can traverse the library stacks with great ease. He is happy.
I have a pretty strange knowledge set. I’m not super friendly, but I like to get high and link people to stuff. Just pretend I said only “ook”

Thought I’d ping you. I checked out freecad and posted some initial thoughts here. https://lemmy.world/post/11352164
I remember playing with qcad. It was awful, but it was the best FOSS CAD I found. AutoCAD was unrivaled from when I learned it in 1999 and remained that way until I had drifted away. I think I played with qcad around 2011.
I found OpenSCAD about 3 years ago, and it knocked by socks off. I’d like to see how mature FreeCAD is now.
In my high school, we had semesters. The first semester you took drafting, it was on drafting tables with Tsquare, triangles, compasses, and stuff. In your 4 years there, there were 8 semesters. You could technically take it 8 times. I think I took it four. So I had 3 semesters of autocad.
2006 was an easy time for me to lose Windows. Do you remember how much worse Windows was back in 200*? Everything had viruses. There were TV ads promising they could get your computer running “like new”. Viruses were so common that people seemed to think computers slowed down with age.
So I’m ignorant about FreeCAD, but FOSS is so powerful now I’m excited to check it out.
Honestly I do. My workflow is not enviable. I’m a little dabbler. I do like CAD, but I’ve never used it professionally. I have a little, ugly sewing table to prove it.
I learned AutoCAD99 in high school. But I never kept up the skills later.
I learned OpenSCAD to draw models for papers. Or for math problems when I taught. It really is a fun tool to get into the swing of, but I let my skills get rusty and it’s frustrating now.
I’m a fan of OpenSCAD for my woodworking. But I’m not, like, industrial with it. But I can get my work done.
Ok, so maybe complaining will bump it. This honestly should be a thriving place.
I for one, read the welcome message and thought “this isn’t what is thought it was”. I was hoping for a drop in of bestOfReddit. But of course, that is the wrong attitude. Lemmy is its own thing. I don’t want to treat it as bestofreddit for lemmy unless that was the mods’ intent.
hi. sorry the first thing i bring up is a criticism.
I don’t see why the bestoflemmy on lemmy.world should focus on lemmy features. It seems like it should just the best stuff, like content stuff, on lemmy.world, curated for sure, but not focused. it seems a name like lemmyTricks or myfavoritelemmyfeature would encompass that mission. This is kinda sitting on a general name, and I wonder if that’s why there are not more submissions.
Guess I’ll be sucking the dick of the person who is technically the youngest person I’ve met.
I blame someone else
It’s weird to feel like you’re earning too much. It sounds like you are earning what Homer Simpson, Red Foreman, and Hank Hill all make. That is, enough to feed a family of four. They only had high school diplomas. Sure, they’re fictional, but that story was real.
The idea that the argument “it’s adam and eve, not adam and steve” is as logically valid as “he who smelt it, dealt it” really fucked with boomer’s minds. It makes me wonder how serious they were about the smelt it/dealt it rule.
You’re distinction is meaningful. I will further distinguish whether one merely believes the statement or whether they are using it to argue a position.
I would say in the case where one says “I have nothing to hide.” as a retort, it’s usually in defense of an argument for the invasion of privacy. And it’s never about themselves; it’s always very distant from them.
I doubt this answers your question, but there is famous mathematical question “Can you hear the shape of a drum?” The wikipedia article is neat read.
That was great. It was a lot like Ori and the Blind Forest, I thought.
I really liked the fog animation. It was such a simple effect but it was well done.
I’m going to assume that absolutely nothing was lost in translation, and those words were exactly what the creator wanted to say.
It really was a feat that they were able to implement the Total Perspective Vortex in busybox.
Thanks for the insight. I’ve never been to the UK. I was basing it on how I contextualize jokes on 8 out of 10 Cats about The Only Way is Essex.
You’re right. But add rich and disconnected too. I’ve never been, but I think Essex is Beverly Hills with bad weather.
Edit: I love being corrected here. I can’t believe how wrong I was. If anyone is interested in the post-mortem of this disinformation, I love British panel shows and hate reality TV. So jokes about The Only Way is Essex completely blend together with Made in Chelsea. I think I thought they were the same because my brain turns off when reality TV comes up.
So the prompt is “here is some American silliness. What is some European silliness?” And you say Viktor fucking Orbán? Lighten up.
Honesty, I can easily picture times where dogs tracking through the house would set off a hair-trigger. But, other times I see the mess and think about how I love dogs. How their “culture” simply doesn’t care about muddy floors. My dog wants to play whether it’s appropriate or not and I can respect that. So, I’m saying, sometimes I can laugh it off.
Framing a big picture (of happy thoughts) is a strategy that has worked for me.
I also smoke a lot of pot.
You’re correct in a lot of languages; Excel comes to mind. Just that’s not how
int rand()
works in C.Sorry, I don’t why you’re getting snark and even being accused of using the word “integer”.
