I’ve been working on my Spanish with practice from some of my coworkers and patients. So far Duolingo’s “flash cards” have actually been pretty helpful, but I grant that some of the actual "instruction"isn’t there. I went from really rudimentary Spanish to being able to conduct a patient evaluation in Spanish as long as it’s straight forward.

Everyone shits on Duo but I’ve found it to be a really helpful practice tool myself.

My unpopular opinion is that whatever you record should consider the format it’ll be viewed in as well as the orientation of the subject in the video. Is it going to be viewed on a phone, one handed, while someone is eating or pooping? Then vertical might make sense. If the subject fits better in a vertical video, then that makes sense as well.

I never used to be a tool guy, but then I finally was able to buy a house. The joy I get doing yardwork and fixing things, especially when I have the right tool for the job, gives me so much joy. I genuinely love going to hardware stores now.

It’s similar to how men often feel pain down the left arm with heart damage. The theory is that in utero, as we develop, the tissues that the nerves going to your gall bladder area and your shoulder may have started as the same batch of tissue. As you develop things branch off and move away from the starting point in different directions. But your brain still has a little bit of holdover from when the structures were the same clump of cells.

Gall bladder can refer pain to the right shoulder sometimes. Is that the side you had symptoms on?

I can’t agree with you more on this. I have used them for years, most recently got one with a scalloped side that fits in your hand so nicely. My son is a cub scout and just got one too, his first pocketknife.
