The story in Horizon Forbidden West is pretty good too. There’s a whole bit in the dlc about Ted Faro that I did not see coming, but it makes me think a lot of the tech bros running things today.

Oolong, steeped in my tea mug that has a lid on it. Usually with some local honey. Mmmm
I second How did this get made, though now that Stitcher is gone their back catalog isn’t available anywhere so you have to just get current episodes ( I’m a completionist so that bugs me).
I also enjoy history vs. But I mainly listened to it because of their series on Teddy Roosevelt. It was fantastic. I recommend it , but I think they cover a lot of different topics so YMMV based on the individual series/topic being covered.
Love the chalky finish and brush like texture on this. Gives the whole piece a loose and improvised feel to it.
Don’t know how I missed this one when I had a PS1 but it would have definitely have been up my alley back in the day. Maybe I’ll get around to getting an emulator for my PC to pick it up again. Could be fun getting back into those old games again - I wouldn’t mind picking up the old Metal Gear 2 game again.
I too feel old now lol
A demolition derby game like wreckfest but without the racing. Leveling, gear, competitions are all focused on destroying other cars and being last one standing.
Bonus if some shenanigans are allowed like you get out of your car and fight other drivers.
Yeah there’s only a couple subtle hints in the regular game and I think more in the dlc. I’m guessing they’ll lean into it more with control 2 now that AW2 is out as well.
Yeah, and that is also scary. There is so little accountability in tech and the excitement over AI is just going to create a new generation of tech bro leaders for Forbes to write cover stories about.
Yes, and I will judge the people using them. I know I shouldn’t because even smart people do dumb things and phones often autocorrect to emojis now but when I see a comment with a lot of emojis my first thought is “that is the language of idiots”.
(Not talking about an occasional smiling emoji, more like the people who use more emojis than words. )
I wish this narrative would get more traction. I don’t get the love for Altman, even inside Open AI.
This whole drama has revealed.what I suspect is a larger problem across tech- that there are product-focused people who are legitimately trying to make tools to better society, and there are people who just want to make money.
Two guesses which type of person is usually in the C suite.
100% to this. I am far from any kind of expert, having cobbled together some competency through individual classes and reading on my own over the past 14 years. In formal classes you learn about how to use light and dark values to guide the viewer’s eyes around the work, and keep them engaged with careful composition. Using specific textures, line weights and and colors can reinforce a mood, style or subject matter.
I dabble in many media so I’m still a novice in most art styles so I don’t succeed in thinking these things through with each piece, so some are more “effective” than others. But at the end of the day I paint because I enjoy it and I create things that I like to look at.
There will always be people who prefer hyper realistic art because their view is that that style is the highest skill and its what represents art to them. That is the great thing about art-everyone can find something they like.
Very much about light. But interesting thought about Turner… I hadn’t thought about that before. I usually think of contemporary abstract artists first when I think of my influences but Turner’s work is so amazing and the only thing I ever do that is remotely representational is landscapes so that actually tracks.
You’ve given me some great food for thought! Definitely want to revisit some of his stuff and see if it sparks any new ideas! :)
Lol thank you!
Thank you so much!
Wow thank you so much! It’s one of my personal favorites and has become pretty emblematic of my art style (with acrylic anyway). It’s still for me to use paper as a base layer but I really love the effect.
I can’t upvote FNV enough. I would LOVE a modern version, especially if they could incorporate some of the mods that add new areas and questlines.
Stairs and inclines, like steep hills and tiered seating. We can’t sit in the cheap seats at sporting events because I constantly feel like I’m going to fall and I get anxiety attacks. Stairs and escalators are bad too, but I’ve gotten much better with those over the years (can’t exactly avoid them in most cases).
I have a 2 story house with a basement, and even going downstairs in my own home can sometimes be hard.
I like the look. One thing I would like to see is integration of the community search tool to make discoverability easier. Something that shows what server each community is on but also will allow you to search across servers in case you don’t know where things are, and a way to view the list of all communities if you want.
I think context makes a difference on whether a call is welcome or not, appropriate or not.
If the email asks me to write out a bunch of info I know off the top of my head, just call me. Don’t make me write out something that I can just tell you much faster.
If you’re asking something that kicks off a conversation going back and forth like if you need help walking through something, sending emails back and forth is annoying and dumb. Knocking it out in one call is faster and easier than exchanging 15 emails.
On the other hand, if you don’t need an answer right away, if you need documents or images or if you need to communicate about something that requires a record of the communication, email is better.
I have been annoyed equally by getting calls and emails when people use them for things when they aren’t ideal.
