A title is just something a company calls a particular job. A role is what that job actually is. So a lot of jobs might be called “QA engineer”, but not fitting the intended role
I’m thinking of it not as a title, but a role. Often times the 2 are not related
That’s what QA engineering is for. They are integrated into the dev team and they pull double duty with QA and code review.
I think QA engineering needs to become more widespread. The “extra pair of eyes” can’t compare to a department of people dedicated to code review and testing.
I don’t consider myself a tankie, because I’m an anarcho-syndicalist.
I’ve been called a tankie for suggesting that workers should organize tenant unions to kill the apartment bidding wars in NYC. I’ve been called a tankie for pointing out that their image of a tankie needs to almost have power to be any kind of threat worth warning against, and there are no tankies anywhere near power with the global rise of fascism. I’ve been called a tankie for asking someone to clarify what they meant by tankie. I’ve been told that scientific socialism both is and is not tankie behavior. The term is utterly meaningless. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s part of a 3rd red scare in an effort to sow division amongst the anticapitalist left.
Capitalism operated almost exclusively as monarchies for the first 200 years. Hundreds of capitalist countries have failed, but why are only the failed communist states counted against the ideology? Vietnam, Cuba, and China certainly haven’t failed. Now I don’t consider those to be socialist or communist projects, but they’re undeniably different from the capitalist status quo. What specifically do you mean when you say a country fails in the first place?
First, was the layoff WARN compliant? The tldr is if 500 or 33% (whichever is less) people were laid off then you were required to receive either a payout of at least 60 day’s wages or a 60 day notice. Second, assuming you weren’t completely fucked by your company with that barebones requirement, what is the separation package? That is a major factor in how I would proceed.
If the package is substantial enough to live on for a while, try to slim up your budget a bit overall and treat yourself a little in the moment before looking for work. Keep a consistent schedule, and pick up some interests and active hobbies. Set aside at least 2 hours per day for submitting applications, and at least another hour per day on other tasks related to job searching.
Don’t let this time be miserable though. Make sure to find ways to relax, get outside, volunteer to a cause, get involved with community organizing, work on a personal project, whatever you feel is worth your extra time. There are a lot of ways to enjoy yourself without a lot of money, like going to your community library.
Create a file handler class to avoid the issue
the ‘O’ in REPORT feels like a directive to block, rather than do what you feel you need to avoid being brought into the issue. I’m sure if I put a few minutes into it I could come up with a recommendation on how to change it, but I’m emotionally exhausted today.
I listen to these podcasts at work
I also like to listen to news, video essays, and speeches while working. It helps keep the variety up. Something else to consider is getting a library card to checkout audiobooks on some streaming apps
However, it’s geographically improbable
Eventually. My dad saw an improvement with corn and soybean yields for multiple years in a row in a very strong market, as well as getting his crane operator license so he could move grain bins and paying off several debts. My mom moved to the same town as her job, got some promotions, picked up a couple weekend gigs bartending at the local bar, and heavily subsidized groceries by going to meat raffles.
Early 2000s. My dad is a farmer and it was a rough year for the harvest. It didn’t help that my parents were pretty poor for a long time, and didn’t seem to recover until after their divorce during the 2008-9 financial crises
When I was 6 I microwaved a metal measuring cup full of water, which ended up arcing and burning out the transformer. Apparently it fucked up my parents’ finances for a while at the time
The signs aren’t looking good. Do you get joint pain before certain types of weather?
I need my standardized fixed calendar now dammit
You want obscure? Here’s a cover of a song by Joe Glazer, written in the 1940s by a union coal miner that immigrated to the US
Margot, does it still feel weird to see articles about yourself?
I prefer the communities method more, since slows down my over sharing
