I used to justify it with “I’ve had a shit day, I deserve to be able to have something for the convenience” - not to mention, I don’t have a car so realistically it was “Do I want fast food or not”.

Then I started to realize that every day tends to be a bad day for me, due to a multitude of reasons. I live paycheck to paycheck (which is why I don’t have a car in the first place) and the amount I was spending on takeout was way too high.

Now the only time I do so is on Fridays because my workplace lets us spend $25 on their tab just for joining the weekly staff meeting. Aside from that, I might order a takeout once, maybe even twice, during a pay period as a “congrats for making it through last month” but I’d like to even stop doing that ideally.

Realistically, a lot of relationships are “situational” (especially at that age) - but that doesn’t erase the fact that they existed in the first place.

Hmm, well the railing of my bed would well… be railing me.

I mean, sure - why not? Like Ada said, if it isn’t going to cause any negative impact on me, there isn’t a reason for me to object that I can think of.

I would be a bit concerned about the hazards of drawing a lot of attention to yourself on the internet, because of the vile people on the internet - but aside from a brief note about it (if they asked for my opinion), that’s really all I’d have to say on the matter.

Unfortunately this tends to apply to most of the “I’m not but…” phrases that people say.

I feel like most people (assuming you’re not on Reddit) don’t really care, so long as you’re not being spammy with them (or not just reply with only an emoji).

Every now and then I’ll tack one on at the end of a comment if I think that my tone might come of a bit more passive aggressive than I intended it to be, but most of the time I just see it as “I might need to rewrite this so that it doesn’t come off that way” instead.

I’ve heard that the brain isn’t really capable of creating unique faces, so when you see people in a dream - even if they seem random to you, they’re probably just someone you saw in passing (on the streets, online, etc) which is interesting!

Realistically there isn’t a way to reliably test that theory, but it definitely makes sense to me at least.

I myself haven’t done any major blogging in a while (Last year I started one and just used Hugo as a static-site-generator so no ActivityPub integration, but also ended up not really posting much), but from what I’ve always heard about WordPress the major “selling” point would be its vast ecosystem of plugins and themes.

But that ecosystem is a double-edged sword, because there is tons of malware for WordPress that comes in the form of plugins (I know WP itself used to be exploited a lot in the past, not sure what its reputation on its own codebase is these days).

I’ve not ever seen WriteFreely before, but I doubt its ecosystem is anywhere the size of WP. Whether that’s a roadblocker is of course only a decision you can make.

I’m sorry that I didn’t have much more to offer as an answer, but hopefully it’s something at least!

Just to note in general to add onto this, it may take a couple of days for instances to update once 0.19.5 comes out - especially since I believe AFAIK it can break third party applications using the API if they’re not updated. So some instances may wait for the bigger apps to update, before they update.

And of course, in general most instances like to test the update on say, a replica, just to ensure that there is no breakage during an update.

I made some significant progress on a project I have been working on yesterday, so I’m excited to get back to it today if I can!

Have you found any other decent online-centric banks to switch to? I’ve been wanting to switch away from ONE for pretty much the reasons you listed, but through a basic search I didn’t see anything else to was too appealing to me.

And the 2FA thing is ridiculous, at one point they didn’t actually have the email option (or it was very well hidden) - had a bit of a rough month at some point and wasn’t able to pay my phone bill which got it suspended, I also happened to have my card locked and got kicked out of the app so… I couldn’t unblock my card to pay the phone bill, which I needed to get the 2FA code to login in… Ended up having to reach out to support and they were able to show me how to request a 2FA code over email.

This wouldn’t even be a problem with most sites because I always use TOTP/Webauthn via my Yubikey when I have the option, and for something as critical as my bank account I really do not want SMS/Email to be an option for 2FA (I get why they have it, but I’d like to be able to turn it off for my account).

Ugh, I miss Simple so much. I was alright with ONE until they stripped the virtual card function from pockets… What is the actual point of Pockets now if I have to transfer the money directly back to my main checking area??

Mixed bag for me! I have a dentist appointment at noon today, I don’t necessarily enjoy the dentist office like most others - but at the same time, I’d rather not have a cracked tooth either so… the dentist is the lesser of the two evils haha.

I’ve got a root canal upcoming too, which was originally supposed to happen today, but as far as I’m aware the plan was to push the root canal back for a different day and just deal with the cracked tooth today but we’ll see.
