You sounds kind of grumpy, IMO. Who cares what other people do? In my opinion, being an adult is boring. Outside of work you only have a couple hours to yourself. Then there’s house work, eating, errands. You have to make time for fun.
Yeahhhh, I did not care for the “Santa toys” as much as I did the ones from my parents. I still regret that to this day. If it stopped working or I lost it I’d think it was okay because it was free.
Though, in grade ~2 i told everyone i could go work in Santa’s work shop if I tried more new foods…

That’s why I’m here. I have one in the basket, one at my feet, and the other wrapped around my left arm… Its 4am, I can’t sleep, as soon as one of them moves I’m going to get up ans watch some TV before work.
We have a two 1 year olds from the same litter, they cuddle as kittens but not so much anymore. The male is a bit of a jerk to the female but he’s starting to settle down.
Also, 2 kittens, they were neutered a month or two ago. They’re crazy and cuddle with everyone when they’re not ripping up our toilet paper all over the house or locking themselves in a room (playing behind the door until it closes)

Going to bed and calling the cats in to sleep with us. Some one always goes in the ‘leg basket’. When I wake up I pet anyone around, kiss the S.O. and start my day.
It’s not everyday but I leave sticky notes around with sayings or love notes for the S.O. I enjoy everything about this.

Before I made my account here I was doing research to see if I was going to start my own instance or not. I had very similar requirements as yours but also some around security, patching, and long walks on the beach.
Honestly, the lemmy.ca admins (including Shadow) seem to know their stuff. They’re active on github, patch regularly, and actually care about the community. As an end user, everything I could ask for. <3
For me, Its the call forwarding option. My Cell provider has a special number in there for unanswered calls. If you forward that to a number that isn’t real all unanswered (and blocked calls) will get a 'this number does not exist" message.
Be careful with this because real callers and people you know will get the message if you don’t answer.
I personally follow all the technology communities and just show new subscribed content on my main page. Some content is the same but there’s a lot of different posts too.
It kind of sucks that there’s several sub’s with a lot of people but then again, that’s the point, right?
How much disk space are you using? Is it just data from anything posted in your instance or others as well?
Honestly, I’m of the same opinion as other people here. If you’re in a costume and yell “trick or treat” at my door, you get candy. I don’t judge people for shit, live your best life man.
Everyone has feelings, everyone has their own problems, and it feels good to be happy. If I can make anyone’s day a little bit better I will. If that means giving candy to a fat, bearded, 40-something man alone in a costume alone, take it brother.
Weird? sure, I get that too. Personally, I won’t go door to door for candy either, it’s not something I find fun. Will I gatekeep someone from having their definition of fun for… what ~$2? in candy I was going to give away otherwise? Nawh.
