That actually makes it funnier to me because ananas would be easier to pronounce in Japanese vs pineapple. Ananansu(u is silent) vs Painappuru.

not sure if it counts as a command, but i use the up arrow to scroll through previous commands like, almost every time I open a terminal.
I wish I could turn the amazon ai generated bs in the product info search off permanently, as I only tend to use that search to figure out what actual people have said about the thing I’m looking at and I don’t trust a LLM to not hallucinate some random bs for something important I’m trying to figure out thanks.
Yes, up to minimum wage, which is still often not enought to live on.
I feel called out.
Agreed, what needs to happen is an option that allows users to follow links from foreign instances in their home instance seamlessly. I have to imagine with the ramped up amount of development in lemmy that some of the devs must be working on it.
Now its just getting sad, lol.
Edit: nvm I thought this was about today’s reddit. Its about early reddit.
Are you kidding? Being able to block people who are harraing you is the ONLY thing that keeps social media civil. What the actual fuck.
Nope I’m done with corporate-controlled social media.
Yup, thats what I meant!
u/spez fired, paid API policy reversed, NSFW policy change reversed, public apology to christian and all reddit users promoting lemmy who got banned + compensation for defamation, all decisions regarding site administration and API policy permanently democratized, so that this shit never happens again, make the whole thing open source.
I don’t expect a single thing on my list to happen, but everything on that list would have to happen before I considered returning.
Its seems like a good app in concept but I still find it a bit lacking in features and polish. Thankfully the amount of people working on it has skyrocketed, so I imagine it should be pretty functional in the near future.
I guess thats a problem specifically for nsfw instances in Germany then.
Dear conservatives: if you want to go out and breath smoke directly into your lungs for no other reason than because its your right, go the fuck ahead. If you all die before those of us who care about our health more than talking points and religious values, we would all be better off as a species. That is all.
all good dude, it’s easy to get that confused. lemmy.ml is actually just one of a number of websites that make up lemmy and the fediverse at large. while you interact as a user almost exclusively through your home instance, much of the content you can access is actually hosted on a different website, even though you still access it through your home instance, think if it like email in that sense. even if you don’t have a gmail.com email address you can stil send and receive emails to people who do. that’s why my full handle is @this@sh.itjust.works, yours is @Marv@lemmy.ml, and we are communicating with each other on a public form via the individual websites our accounts are hosted on. If you have ever used or plan to use mastodon, that works the same way and actually uses the same protocol (activitypub), there are also other currently less popular social media alternatives that use this protocol as well as speculation that it may be added into some mainstream social media platforms(though I wouldn’t hold my breath on them federating with lemmy/mastodon). If you ever join a smaller instance (which I and the devs recommend to help the network scale better), you can use this link to find communities on other instances(they won’t show up on your home instance if no one is subscribed to them or they are blocked by your instance): https://browse.feddit.de/
true enough, but I don’t think i’m going to care that much as long as the community stays big enough to stay somewhat active. I feel much more engaged in the community here than I ever did on reddit.
LMAO, that’s a thinker! True I am viewing this thread on sh.itjust.works so from my perspective that would be the website, lol.
I’m just going to take your response literally, because I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or not. when you join a lemmy instance, in OPs case, lemmy.ml, or in your case, lemmy.world. your profile is hosted on said instance, and therefore anything you put on your profile is subject to the rules of whoever owns/moderates that instance. if you don’t like it, move to another instance, or start your own, that’s the benefit of a federated system!
When you say “this site”, do you mean lemmy in general, or lemmy.ml(your home instance)? Because lemmy in general DOES allow nsfw content, its just that no one (to my current knowledge) had been willing to start+moderate a NSFW instance yet. If you think you are up to it, you are more than welcome to spin up your own instance. Just remember you still have to follow all the laws regarding server hosting where you live(or where the server is hosted maybe? Idk I’m not a lawyer).
