We are testing a different, longer term hypothesis now, which is whether they can become functional adults after being parented by non-functioning adults.

I learned with kids that less total but uninterrupted is better than more total but interrupted.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you use or rely on dynamic currency conversion upon cash withdrawals abroad whilst traveling?English
1·28 days agoYeah that’s a good point.
My head canon is always converting magic into sci fi. The wizards are the descendants of a civilization that created the tech but they’re so far removed they don’t know anything about how it works, or about simple spells that would shortcut all the fancy shit. Doesn’t really explain the Snitch though, other than “they’re more about tradition than logic”.

2·29 days agoThat’s darkly funny, though it sounds like vendor ignorance. If it was a franchise or mom and pop, you may even be able to reach out to the owner to help them fix the permissions on that Google Drive link.
This is interesting and I get the appeal, but I’m too afraid of pirates to just live without a nation’s protection.

2·1 month agoI think we’re on the same page because I was more replying to you than the OP. I think the meme is a bit extreme and that was either the joke, or it’s specifically crafted to piss of both sides of the aisle, like so much content today.

6·1 month agoCan you take out debt against it to pay for those things? If you’re net negative while it’s in your possession then the math should work out if you can extract some of its future sale price against its current cost.

10·1 month agoI agree it’s a blessing to have your parents be financially independent into their later years. I do think there’s a generational disparity. I don’t think there’s an obligation for parents to pass on some early inheritance, but I just can’t imagine letting my kids face a lower standard of living assuming their career paths and lifestyles were similar. It’s not their fault our leaders and elite have designed a system that reducing the quality of housing and cities while making them more expensive (IMO).
Maybe I’ll feel different when I’m older and I think everything they do is wasteful or something?
As a guy I don’t see how it affects me. It’s literally one man shown in the image. I did not get a feeling of “Great now they’ll think we’re all like that” or “Oh geez you mean people hate when I say those things to them?”. All I have to do to not be lumped in with that guy is to not do that one specific thing in the comic.
There’s a lot of that out there. I’ve definitely become jaded to the point where I will rarely adopt a new show unless I know it’s a limited or finished series, and one that didn’t just keep renewing until they couldn’t make money one upping themselves.
Holy crap I was about to use the same yuck someone’s yum phrase to make the same point. Keep up the good work hive mind.
Edit: To clarify, in response to the shit storm of replies you got, I meant specifically that’s my issue with Marvel movies, and I assume that’s more what you meant, not all fiction ever.
Good on you for asking these questions in a timeline that absolutely justifies them.

I don’t know why I kept tightening them. I never found myself in a situation where the connector was falling out if they were left unscrewed.

Oh man what is this? Something about this guy makes me automatically agree with you that he’s a great villain.
