Is this a US take? Serious question because in Europe, I see primarily SUVs being sold when it comes to EVs. Small and shitty ones yes, but still aiming to resemble at least the SUV look. E.g. VW ID3, ID4; these I see a lot on the streets over here. Big exception seem to be hybrids, they usually are sedans or hatchbacks.

Imo this article is mainly playing semantics. Even if they are right and this is seen as “the beginning” one day, the current LLMs only perform well in very narrow tasks, everywhere else they are sub-par to humans. Unfortunately, that will not stop many companies from using them for shit they cannot handle, just to have this blow into the face of society later. That would be the much more interesting talking point; in which areas can we see companies jumping the gun and what will be the problems and dangers that arise from it?

Well, the “distributed and automatically installed” part seems more like Windows users will automatically get that bloatware installed; no way to get a minimal driver without bullshit utilities anymore, right? I assume that utility will be written by the device manufacturer…

Not a good idea for three reasons:
A legislative approach that protects what the archive does would be a much more reasonable approach.
It’s not just that they fight ad blockers now. I used to use an auto skipper for the ads, since I am technically okay with being served the ads (dedicated browser, deletion of cookies) and I consider 20 seconds before a video bearable.
They changed the skip button now so that my skipper stopped working. Guess what, now I’m using a blocker instead since I cannot be bothered to constantly click on the fricking screen to prevent 30 min ads from playing.

Similar reason for me. Although, as long as I could get a car without internet connectivity, I would even be fine with non-free software but even that is too much to ask nowadays. This also applies to gas or diesel powered cars though, so I will stick with my sedan from 2015 too, might even have the engine redone completely in a few years if there are no proper options by then.
