I don’t see the usefulness of that one compared to just deleting your comment in that scenario. This one will just be abused by trolls posting outrageous claims and then preventing people from replying by flagging the mistake option.

We are not going to go WWII on the US, if that is what you are suggesting. Who would even do that? Russia and China are laughing their asses off about what is happening in the US right now. They never had it better, since the US voluntarily dropped its hegemony and basically joined their side.
Europe wouldn’t even if it could (which it obviously can’t).
The US can’t be saved by anyone but their own people. But Americans so far seem to be very easy to bully into submission and accept their country turning fascist.
The thing is that outside of North America people aren’t terrified to death of decimals. We actually use them and find the process simple. So those factors of yours are completely irrelevant to us.
Most people by far don’t attend fashion design school.
Same, but called mobilepay in Denmark.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a historical precedent or tv series that mirrors whats going on in the States right now? Besides Handmaids Tale?
4·11 months agoI don’t think the reason for the setting of the movie was to be taken very serious. It could have been much more realistic in its scenario, but then people would have criticised it for being too “on the nose” or similar, like they did with Don’t look up.

41·11 months agoThat is the typical internet response whenever thatg movie is brought up in this context. But that response fails to take into consideration that they only did that after not having done that for hundreds of years until the point where the movie begins.

7·11 months agoNot a good example, since that shows the happy ending where powerful countries are finally finishing off the fascist regime after years of war and millions of lives lost. That is the amount of effort and determination it took to rid Germany of its fascists.
No such prospects for the American fascist regime. On the contrary the most powerful countries in the world will happily support it, because it undermines Western dominance.

Not on the US corporate curated internet. It hurts the feelings of advertisers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People outside the US, do you still consider America a democracy?
1·1 year agoYou are confusing a lot of pol science terms, as well as using some which aren’t part of pol science at all.
All modern democracies are representative democracies, as in voters votes for representatives to represent them. Switzerland has elements of direct democracy, but on a foundation of representative democracy as well. Constitutional, presidential and liberal democracy are not an actual meaningful terms in political science.
Technically the US is a representative democracy, but I am pretty sure OPs is asking about the practice of the thing. And the practice is very different from the written word about how it was supposed to be, especially this recent presidential term.

1·1 year agoGrateful Dead is definitely huge in Europe as well.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What musicians or bands are huge in the US but not in Europe?
7·1 year agoThat is taking it a bit too far. Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash are definitely known, especially because they kinda crossed over into over genres than straight country, but 99% of other country artists aren’t.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•DAE feel like DuckDuckGo is now just as good as google for the vast majority of searches?
4·1 year agoI switched to it a couple of years ago, with the expectation that I had to resort to google in more complex search instances. But very soon I found out that ddg did the job, and my “alternative” google searches did not turn up anything better, quite the contrary in fact, and I haven’t been back since.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do some people like cats so insanely much?
21·2 years agoThat is only because the cats sense that you don’t like them. If you actually liked them they behave pretty much as you experience dogs does to you.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What show did you watch because of memes but were dissappointed?
8·2 years agoIt seems like you are mainly criticising fans (perhaps imaginary fans) rather than the show itself. I do agree that the later seasons are just not as good as the first ones, and personally I have little interest in the newest season, it never should have been revived in my opinion, it is just going to end up like the Simpsons.
I will gladly rewatch old episodes though, and no, not because I think it predicts anything, but because it is damn funny.
such as with its views on theology and politics which are trademark 90’s views.
You are getting me curious. Could you give some examples of what trademark 90’s views on theology and politics are?

As always a bunch of greedy and murderous rich thugs are very effective at fucking everything up. An eternal story really.
