I miss the time I had as a teen to make plot. I’m lucky to come up with three pages of notes before a game now, I had plot that lasted in-game months when I was young, one summer of Rifts my plot notes came to 80 pages
I was the opposite. I’d have an adventure first session, and a general idea of what was going on in the world, and then just ad-libbed everything from there. I don’t think I ever had anything besides a map of where I thought the party would be for the session, and some npcs. I pulled so heavily from the monster manual for fights… I got a lot of utility from swapping stat blocks and just describing monsters weirdly.
Seeing as we all ran games as teenagers… damn, we burned out early.
