Our town only has two theaters and only this one has assigned seats. It’s only showing this, that Reagan movie and Beetlejuice. I couldn’t find any seats that had been sold…
However my wife and I went to see Deadpool a week or two ago and the theater was as full as I’ve seen a theater since Covid.

I think you still have to buy a specific seat if you buy at the theater otherwise it would break the system if anyone did buy an assigned seat after you.
I just checked the 9pm showing and it’s still showing an empty theater 3 min before start.
To be clear:
The ‘x’ seats are ‘taken’
The 🟦 seats are ‘available’
ETA As many have pointed out, since these same two seats are blocked for every showing, I believe it’s because they’re broken; not sold.

The only conclusion I can come to is OP uses different camping terminology than I’m familiar with. For me ‘dispersed’ can have a broad range of meanings but always means ‘not at a campground’.
