No one wants you to “broaden out the audience” for this franchise. Or for any franchise ever. The only people who want this are the investors. Incorporating investor ideas and demands has historically never spelled success for any movie ever. But sure, this time will be different.
Ah yes, the franchise beloved for its extreme violence and awesome practical effects is doing something without extreme violence or practical effects.

What if we removed those 3 aspects? Then we can lower the age rating to envelope a wider audience.

Is it? Or is the ratings board just being lax so that the studio can bring in cash from teenagers?
Also too, no human characters are apparently hurt in it, only synths, Predators and other monsters killing each other.
Violence against humans requires a more restrictive rating and because the movies lacks human deaths the violence can still be the same but at a PG-13 rating.

My bet is on a Predator saying it because that is meta and edgy; it hits all demographic targets.
The Predator will call a human “one ugly motherfucker”. God of course. Meta, edgy, flipping the script just to be different without justifying it in the story. Hollywood perfection.

Badlands […] focuses on synthetics, the Yautja (the name of the race of aliens who assume the Predator role), and various other monsters, rather than humans. Indeed, not a single human character is hurt during the movie.

It’s ok for a franchise to explore a different aspect and flesh out its world. The synths are an interesting thing to expand on. Alien Earth went this route too… Hopefully Badlands has better writing and direction though.
I agree. There is a set formula people are expecting from a Predator movie; various other Predator projects have attempted to put their spin on it.
Prey was the most successful for me and I am willing to expect more from this story than I would otherwise give a new Predator movie because it is from the same crew that made Prey.
I am cautiously optimistic on this one.
The first one is great the rest of the franchise is utter dogshit so I guess this won’t make it worse…

Put some respect on Predator 2’s name. A movie with Danny Glover and Gary Busey can’t be completely without merit.
