And they clearly needed her. She wasn’t wrong. In an industry that only rewards very few people with opportunity, you need to stand out and be a bit cocky. Do you think she would’ve ever gotten a role if she started negotiations with “Yea, you should absolutely hire someone else, I’m not what you want for this role”?

It’s the same in pretty much every industry too. You don’t go to a job interview and be like “yea, a lot of people are a lot more qualified for this position”. You go to the job interview and tell the recruiter that you’re what they need. If you don’t think you’re what they need, why would they ever be convinced?
You’re allowed to be wrong, and we’re allowed to tell you so. Therefore, by your own rules, you must let us tell you so :P
