but what does ja rule have to say
Where is Ja!? I need to make sense of this!
Trump learned how to operate a fry cooker and work the drive-thru line during his short shift at a Feasterville, Pennsylvania, restaurant. He used the stunt as an opportunity to take more shots at his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
He didn’t learn shit. He stood next to some things and posed for photos. Have the couch-fucker come in and awkwardly order some food.
He did learn something. Specifically, he discovered that fry cooks DON’T use their bare hands to scoop fries out of the fryer and into the box. And somehow, this is even worse than not learning anything.
The only way they can save face is by canceling the franchise. They had food safety violations anyway, so win-win.
If I made a political statement and involved my employer even remotely my ass would have been canned immediately.
yeah trump’s an idiot but don’t act like we wouldn’t all be praising harris if she did the same thing.
Why the fuck would anyone praise Harris for something like this? Get a fucking grip. We would be lambasting the fucking idiot who came up with such a shitty idea and Harris for being dumb enough to go along with it.
Because a politician in a suit and apron tOtAlLy screams “I struggle just like you”.
Ffs, you should delete your comment. What a shit hot take.
Whataboutism and a straw man in the same sentence. Smells like speed running trolling.
Legit visiting a McD’s and working with actual customers for awhile? Sure. An entirely staged photo op where nothing of the sort is done? Nah.
Having said that, I don’t view McD’s any more negatively than I already did for this. It is reasonable IMO for any presidential candidate to put in a stop to wherever. I am pretty doubtful that this particular franchise owner isn’t a Trump supporter, but I bet most of them are.
I definitely would not. Bullshit theatre like that is cringe and a turn off no matter who does it.
One reason they did this is because Harris worked at McDonald’s in college. Agree though, it’s a… weird photo op
Maccas HQ should take the guy’s franchise off of him, then. They did it near me to a guy whose only crime was supporting the local community more than extracting maximum profit, surely making a political endorsement that HQ doesn’t agree with should be grounds for the same. Right‽
Nope. Now that maccies is gonna get way more customers who will go because they think Trump having been there is cool.
Why is it too bad so sad too late?
The franchisee probably didn’t contact McDonalds before allowing Trump in.
They probably found out the same way everyone else did — the news. Someone had to pass it up high enough and then they issued an inter memo (which they may have gotten before the news) and then the president wrote a letter.
Timing seems okay for me
The franchise IS a McDonald’s.
Sorry, I meant corporate
We learned about it before Sunday. We heard this was going on the week before. Are you saying McDonald’s is so unorganized that the message didn’t reach headquarters? Or are they just that slow in responding to it?
That’s where my too late idea is coming from. They want to eat their cake and have it too. Shore up some good PR for the pro-trumps and now say oh no we would never be political after some complaints come in. Seems business as usually for companies.
Sorry I’m out of the country so I heard about it yesterday on lemmy. With big organizations, it’s possible that like the district or region leader didn’t think it’d be a big deal and didn’t pass it on. Or hell, maybe one of them is a trumper and let it go. When corporate found out from the news they tried to do a PR cleanup. Could also have been slow then.
I know someone in corporate McDonalds. They were pissed the instant they found out. They have a saying internally, “were not red or blue, were golden.” They intentionally don’t take political stances. This franchise owner acted without corporate blessing, and if I had to guess, that message was intentionally not passed up the chain.
That’s really interesting that they don’t take political stances, yet why was it such a necessity for them to go out of their way and deliver their food to IOF troops and support their work? That must have been okayed by corporate because it was on a ton of media outlets. Seems pretty political to me.
The whole situation around Israel has bipartisan support. Even if it’s political, it’s hard to say they’re picking a side there.
And it turns out there aren’t a lot of franchises in Palestine.
This franchise owner acted without corporate blessing, and if I had to guess, that message was intentionally not passed up the chain.
If that is true then wouldn’t that be the message?
We don’t take sides, and this franchise did, so he can’t be a franchise owner anymore. Sell something that isn’t McDonald’s.
I don’t think that was their message. Their message was, "please don’t be mad at us. " Like someone else said in this thread, this doesn’t change my opinion of McDonald’s and I already wasn’t eating there. I just see their excuse as another BS reason.
This is after they decided to be one of the most public facing corporate sponsors of the genocide in Gaza.
Is this world news though?
More like american news. The rest of the world couldn’t care less. On the other hand, whatever Trump does can also be seen as tragedy/comedy/both, so maybe post this in some relevant entertainment oriented community.
